the wind takes us away

Two posts about French music in one week. Someone must be having an influence on me.

The four chaps in the picture above are the French group 'Noir Desir' who were probably the biggest rock group in France for the best part of the 1990s. In 2003 their lead singer, Bertrand Cantat, was sent to jail for 8 years for the manslaughter of his girlfriend, actress Marie Trintignant. Naughty Bertrand! Just prior to this they released the album 'Des visages des figures' which I've been listening to recently. The track below is my favourite .. enjoy!

noir desir - le vent nous portera

You can find the official Noir Desir site here ...

... or you might like to buy the album, Des Visages Des Figures.

"Le vent nous portera" means "The wind sweeps us along" or rather "We are being drifted by the wind".

Having had the pleasure of seeing them live a number of times I would like to say how much the young and then free Bernard reminded me of acertain Joe Strummer .
