my wife went skiing and all I did was this

During my lovely Christmas holiday I got a day to myself and spent it with my guitar and songs. My efforts almost add up to an acoustic EP that I'd like to share with you:

01 Grey star
02 Surface noise
03 Heartache maker
04 Who's you father?
05 Ours us ours
06 My bones

Please let me know what you think.

Hey Tim, your vocals remind me of Sice from the Boo Radleys. And that is most definitely a good thing.

Oh wonderful! Oooh now I'm going to take out my handwriting analysis book and see what all lurks in the mind of Tim Young...been incredibly busy this season, but always glad to hear new music even if I don't get to take part in CP as often as I'd like.

Hugger .. thanks! That is a good thing. Did you like any of the songs in particular?

Cindy ... yes! When are we going to hear you on the CP again ... we've missed you!

Ross. Great! Let me know what you think when you've had a listen. Ta.

Tim, you certainly are a talented fella. These are really good. I can hear the Sice reference too. And a couple remind me of Nina Nastasia (stylistically obviously - I'm not saying you sing like a girl or anything) Could imagine they'd sound great with a bit of sad cello added on to them. Second track is my favourite.

Thanks Coxon. That really means a lot to me.

:)

It's funny that you mention cello as I was thinking of trying to talk a friend of mine into doing some string arrangements for a couple of them.

Hummmm... It's true you're a talented guy mister Young... Perhaps your wife should go skiing more often?!

This is bravery of the highest order, as it could have led to all sorts of ridicule.

This is far better than I thought it would have been before listening - but is it OK to say there are a couple of bum notes (proof of course, that you're playing live).

Incidentally, I like 'Who's Your Father' best of all.

Thanks for listening JC, and of course it's Ok to mention the bum notes. I noticed them too ... but for me they add to the thing. :)

I'm trying to move towards a way of recording 100% live as I believe that it's the only way to make an amazing recording. One day I'll get there.

I'm surprised that nobody is agreeing on which is the best song!
